Instant rice flour onion dosa

This is a very tasty n instant dosa recipe. Actually, this one comes straight from my friend Sridevi's kitchen. Recently, we visited Seattle to meet her lovely family. I was so glad to see her running behind her cute son who kept her busy throughout the day. she served us delicious rice flour onion dosas for dinner.I got the recipe from her and modified a little bit of it. Eventually, it became an instant hit at my home.

Ingredients
  • Rice flour 3cups
  • chopped onion 1-1/2cup
  • shredded carrot 1medium size
  • cumin seeds 1tsp
  • blackpeppercorns 1tsp
  • cooked rice 1cup
  • green chillies 4
  • curry leaves few
  • chopped coriander leaves few
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • turmeric powder 1tsp
  • shredded coconut 2tbsp
  • water 3cups
  • salt to taste
  • canola/ sunflower oil
Method
  • Grind 1cup of cooked rice and green chillies together into a thick paste.
  • Mix this ground cooked rice and green chilli paste along with all other ingredients.
  • Add 3cups of water and make a thick batter out of this. The batter should not be watery. The batter will be thicker than the usual dosa batter.
  • Heat 1tbsp oil in a tawa or a griddle and pour about 2 spoonful of batter in the centre and spread it evenly with the back of the spoon. cook for 3minutes and flip the dosa and cook for another 3 minutes. onion rice flour dosa is ready.
  • serve it with coconut chutney or idly milaga podi ( idly chilli powder).
