Milagai thuvaiyal
This is again a chettinad spicy chutney. An excellent combination for idlies and dosas. My sis-in-law Uma gave this recipe to me. My mom makes similar red chutney with coconut, garlic and few red chillies. As the name itself implies milaga thuvaiyal is very spicy.
Ingredients
- chopped onion 1 no
- chopped tomatoes 2 nos
- red chillies 8
- tamarind paste 1/2tbsp
- chopped coriander leaves 1/2 a bunch
- mutards 1tsp
- urad dal 1tsp
- chana dal 1tsp
- salt to taste
- canola oil 2tbsp
Method
- Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustards in it. throw urad dal and chana dal into it.
- Fry chopped onions, tomatoes and red chillies in it. Add tamarind paste and chopped coriander leaves to it. saute well. Add salt to taste.
- Grind this fried mixture into a thick paste. serve it with idlies and dosas.
